About Us

History Alive In Schools was established in October 1997 - so we now have over 26 years experience of bring history topics ALIVE! Founded as a response to teachers requests for living history demonstrations within schools by Kathryn Baldwin (now Purchase) - at that time a member of the nationally renowned Carrick 800 Battle Re-enactment Society and a Countryside Ranger/Countryside Interpreter.

Initially we only offered a couple of workshops (Vikings & Jacobites) but over the years our knowledge & historical collections have grown significantly  allowing the development of a wider range of presentations covering many different topics.

With our hands-on, interactive approach to history your pupils can become truly immersed in their history topic - enabling it to be well and truly brought ALIVE!!

We strive to both educate & entertain with the aim of stirring the children's imagination and stimulating a lasting interest in the class history project being studied and history in general.  Many teachers have commented on my obvious passion for the subject and how this transmits to participating audiences - both pupils, adult staff and other observers.

Our displays have been taken from our base in South Ayrshire out & across Scotland with displays in schools being given as far south as Annan & Dumfries, north to Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire, Stirling, Alloa & Alva and east into North Lanarkshire . Our displays have also featured in the programmes of After School Clubs, Summer Play Schemes, Adult Special Needs Groups, Museum Exhibitions and historical re-enactment events.
